Versatile and passionate musician, singer, composer and vocal coach, Isabel Bermejo is characterized by its powerful stage presence, capable of transmitting feelings in its purest state - SaborJazz Scene (ed.314)
Currently living in The Netherlands, Isabel has had the opportunity to play with several jazz musicians and especially latin-jazz,- having the opportunity to participate in the Dutch TV show 'Vrije Geluiden', play at the North Sea Jazz Festival, OperaDagen, Rotterdam Film Festival or perform her own compositions at DE DOELEN theater, among others.
Born and raised in Logroño, La Rioja (Spain), Isabel was influenced from the very early years by Metal music having collaborated in many projects and having recorded two albums with the band Black Desert.
She started singing at the age of fifteen and soon discovered also the art of composing. Besides singing, she followed classes in guitar and piano. In 2008 she started her academic studies at the UR University, Department of Music in Education, Logroño, obtaining the Bachelor in Music Pedagogy. In 2011 she started her studies at the Higher Conservatory of Navarre where, three years after, was granted with an scholarship to study at the Maastricht Conservatory in The Netherlands. There, she completed her studies with merits (Cum laude), receiving the Bachelor of Music in Jazz Vocals under the guidance of the acclaimed performer and educator Sabine Kühlich. Recently, in June 2018, she completed her Master’s degree at the World Music department of Codarts (Rotterdam) having collaborated with the Latin, Tango and Flamenco Department. In her master's she has worked on a research about Flamenco Vocal Ornamentations.
Besides her academic studies she also have attended to many different masterclasses and workshops about vocal technique and jazz
improvisation all around the world:
- New York Jazz Academy (New York) with the guidance of Sara Serpa
- Certificate 1 and 2 of Estill Voice Trainning technique under the guidance of Helen Rowson (Madrid - School Acción-Escena).
- Scat workshop with the legend of Jazz Sheila Jordan (Germany)
- Improvisation skills with the adventorous singer Jay Clayton (Maastricht)
At the moment she is working on her first solo album together with the band THE IMPACT with whom she released an EP in January 2018 called 'Stories' and in which you can find her own compositions.
